Champlevé Champlevé is an enamelling technique in which troughs or cells are carved, etched, die struck or cast into the surface of a metal object, such as a gilt or silver watch dial, and then filled with enamel. The piece is then fired so that the enamel fuses to the surface. When the object cools, the enamel appears polished.
