Double-six striking With the double six–striking method, the clock strikes the first six hours: one strike for one o’clock, two strikes for two o’clock, three strikes for three o’clock, etc., up to six strikes for six o’clock. Then it reverts to one strike for seven o’clock, then two strikes for eight o’clock, and so on, up to six strikes for twelve o’clock. Thus, this method strikes the hours up to six, twice every 12 hours.
