Knibb's Phase II Clock's ascribed to Joseph Knibb’s so-called Phase II ebony-veneered cases are categorised as such based on the inclusion of stylistic elements identified by Ronald Lee, who was a leading authority of English clocks and author of The Knibb Family, Clockmakers. These include ‘silver mounts, silver dial fittings and velvet covered dial plates’. There are only nine surviving Phase II examples recorded. Knibb’s Phase II clocks are typically dated from the mid 1670s to 1680.
