Knife-edge suspension A knife-edge suspension is a method of supporting a pendulum directly (i.e. the pendulum hangs on an arbor) that does not end in a bearing. Instead, it ends in a sharp knife edge. This fits into a V-shaped slot giving a low-friction mount.
