Celebrating 270 years of Vacheron Constantin It’s incredibly exciting to see watchmaker Vacheron Constantin launch their magnificent astronomical clock – the Quest of Time – to celebrate their 270th anniversary of continuing production. Merging horological mastery, decorative arts, precision engineering and the poetry of movement, La Quête du Temps is the first timepiece to feature an automaton as a functional time-telling complication. This celestial figure, a mechanical astronomer, indicates the time through choreographed gestures in a mesmerising display of sound and motion. Still photos cannot do this justice, so please see visit the Maison’s website here or follow @vacheronconstantin on Instagram. Of note is the clock’s seven years of development, 6,293 mechanical components, 107 cm height and over 15 expert disciplines involved. If that were not enough, the Quest of Time is on display at the Louvre Museum Paris, as part of an exhibition called Mécaniques d’Art featuring several horological masterpieces from antiquity, the Renaissance and the Enlightenment. This runs until 12 November 2025. The makers have created a limited edition celebratory Swiss watch as a tribute to the Quest of Time. It pays homage to the Maison’s vision, “Do better if possible and that is always possible.” What an inspirational quote to start the day!
