A message from Clocktime’s creator Dr John C Taylor OBE FREng Good morning Welcome to the very first Clocktime® newsletter. I set out to create a digital museum where others around the world could enjoy my clock and watch collection from the comfort of their own homes or workshops. As I’m 87, time is not on my side, which is why I’m so keen to spread the message about the wonders of horology in this way. To start any collection, you need three things - the time, the money, and the inclination. You're lucky if you have two of these; it's very rare to have all three. As well as being exquisitely beautiful, the timepieces featured teach us about science, technology, engineering and mathematics – all of the STEM subjects, or as I prefer to say, STEAM, with the all-important creative process of Art included for good measure! Perhaps because I’ve spent my entire working life in mass production, it excites me that many of the items included in the Clocktime® Digital Museum set the path for the industrial revolution that followed. I’m very grateful for your kind messages about the new Clocktime® website, which is intended to be an educational resource, in the broadest sense, as well as a source of joy and wonder for visitors.
