Stories from the AHS Archives The AHS recently launched its archive catalogue, opening up to researchers an array of records, created and collected over decades by horological experts and enthusiasts. The society is hosting a free-to-attend lecture on Thursday 11th September, either on Zoom or in person at 6:00 PM at St Mary-at-Hill Church, Lovat Lane, London, EC3R 8EE. It is open to AHS members and non-members alike and you may book your place here. In addition to providing an overview of the contents of the varied AHS archive collections, the AHS archivist Dorota Pomorska will talk about some personal favourites she came across during the many months of cataloguing. Dorota holds a master’s degree in Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic history from Trinity College Cambridge and a Diploma in Archives and Records Administration from University of Wales Aberystwyth. She has worked at London Metropolitan Archives (now known as The London Archives) since 2002, more recently cataloguing the collections of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers. She was invited to join the AHS as an archivist in 2023. A glimpse of the archive can be seen here. Dorota will talk about what it takes to create a well-curated, easily accessible and physically cared for archive, to ensure its long-term preservation for the enjoyment of all. This is something to be celebrated as there is a wealth of knowledge to be discovered! As you can see, we wish to spread the message about Clocktime to as many individuals as possible throughout the globe.
