Astronomical clock An astronomical clock, also called a horologium, is a clock with special mechanisms and dials that display astronomical information, typically indicating the positions of the sun, moon, zodiacal constellations, and planets. During the late 1000s AD the first astronomical clock was created by Su Sung, a Chinese astronomer, horologist and mechanical engineer.
