Entablature Entablature refers to the superstructure of moldings and bands which lie horizontally above columns, resting on their capitals. Entablatures are an important element of classical Greek architecture and were often integrated into the design of many early architectural clock cases. They are commonly divided into the architrave, the frieze and the cornice.
