Sea clock A sea clock, or more specifically a marine chronometer, is a precision timepiece specifically designed to cope with the often violent and unpredictable motions and the huge temperature changes experienced on a ship at sea during a long voyage. It is used to determine longitude by comparing Greenwich Mean Time and the time at the current location determined based on observations of celestial bodies.
